Dampier Central

This project involves the comprehensive redevelopment of the existing Dampier Shopping Complex, repositioning the asset to support contemporary retail and commercial use. The proposal delivers approximately 4,000m² of mixed-use space, comprising retail, office, and supermarket tenancies, alongside two new public piazzas that connect directly to the adjacent parkland, enhancing the overall public realm.

A key design move reorients the primary access away from the existing inward-facing, enclosed mall—previously defined by a dark, windowless central corridor—to the building’s external perimeter. This shift establishes active frontages along a covered outdoor walkway, improving visibility, activation, and user experience. The former internal mall is infilled to increase net lettable area and optimise commercial efficiency.

Public realm quality is further enhanced through the transformation of a former back-of-house and loading dock area into a new piazza. This space provides both visual and physical connectivity to surrounding tenancies while seamlessly stitching the development into the adjoining council parkland.

The design prioritises accessibility and site permeability, integrates mature trees and shade structures, and offers flexible zones for pop-up retail within the landscape to support a dynamic and adaptable environment.
